Occupational therapy is centered around helping clients reconnect with the activities and life roles that matter most to them, regardless of the emotional, physical, or psychological challenges they may experience. Whether it’s coping with social anxiety on the job, practicing yoga from a wheelchair, recovering from burnout, or transitioning to a new stage in life, this approach to mental health and wellness emphasizes the therapeutic power of engaging in meaningful activities to reach your personal goals.​​​​​

These services are ideal for anyone who is experiencing mental health, physical, or psychosocial symptoms that are disrupting their ability to fulfill meaningful life roles or participate in important daily activities.  Below are a few case examples of clients who have benefitted from OT-based mental health and wellness services.  This is in no way an exhaustive list, but can be helpful to those unfamiliar with OT mental health and wellness services:

  • Those experiencing anxiety symptoms preventing them from engaging in preferred social activities or roles such as being an effective employee, friend, or parent

  • Those experiencing symptoms of stress, burnout, or empathetic distress from their jobs

  • Those experiencing symptoms of depression that are disrupting their ability to perform self-care activities such as regular bathing, scheduling appointments or preparing meals

  • Those looking to adjust to new routines following a major change in their life, such as smoking cessation, changing careers, or while in recovery from drugs or alcohol*

  • Those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) who are struggling to organize or initiate important tasks, or manage their household
